Nekton Mission 3.56

Nekton was created to increase scientific and public understanding of the deep ocean through scientific research, inspirational storytelling in broadcast and print media, education of the young, and highlighting the urgent need for a coherent global policy for protecting the oceans.

Nekton’s operations cover four main areas:

1. Scientific discovery: multi-disciplinary scientific research missions to assess the health of the deep ocean

2. Storytelling: 360 virtual reality cameras deployed with the submersibles and divers to bring the deep ocean to life

3. Education: delivering the deep ocean to classrooms around the world to inspire young people and build their knowledge

4. Impact: building global awareness of the state of the deep ocean to influence future policy

Our approach is to collaborate with an Alliance of world-leading partners across science, industry, government, media, education and civil society.

Collectively, we aim to be positively disruptive and find innovative ways to exponentially accelerate our scientific understanding of how the deep ocean is changing. We aggregate our resources to deliver research missions, global communications and educational content and catalyse impact through policy initiatives.
