The Roman fortress at Caerleon is 10 minutes away by car and features many Roman remains and a free museum.
There is a bus stop right outside (Bus No 8A or 8C) which takes you straight to Newport City Centre and the train station, (it is an 8 minute train journey into Cardiff and a 20 minute drive).
