The History:
The early Muslim migrants were gifted visionaries who wanted to build an architectural jewel. Their hard work paid off when Glasgow Central Mosque opened to the public in 1984 as the first purpose-built mosque in Glasgow at a cost of £10 million in today's terms.

As one of the most recognisable buildings in the city, it is visited by a large number of people, including the media, schools, colleges, universities and anyone wanting to learn more about Islam.
5,000 of us visit it every week to pray, gain knowledge, get married or attend funeral prayers, which makes it the focal point of our lives from beginning to end.

The Future :
In its 30th year of heavy use, the wear and tear is beginning to show. Join us in polishing the jewel back to its former splendour by donating towards new carpets, new boilers, air conditioning for the women's area, roof repairs, toilet upgrades, electrics, car park completion and restoration of the magnificent golden dome which beautifies the city skyline.

This is an excellent opportunity to earn a recurring reward (sadaqah jariyah) for you, your family or loved ones who have passed away. Allah will reward you every time someone uses the facilities that you helped build or improve.

"Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him likewise in Paradise." [Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]
