At Colour White Photography we like to push the boundaries of portrait photography to provide you with beautiful, original works of portraiture.

Colour White's owner: Brendan Hall first photographed with his Six-20 bellows camera aged 7. He was fortunate enough to be able to turn his lifelong passion for photography into a reality with the opening of Colour White Photography on 1st January 2006.

Brendan is joined in the studio by highly-talented portrait photographer Grace Johnston who has been with Colour White for over 2 years and graduated with honours from Falmouth University ~ the UK’s leading photography institute.

It's Brendan and Grace's ability to capture natural expression together with their understanding of light and composition that produces such beautiful and expressive images.

And that’s why the studio's many accolades include: FUJIFILM UK Portrait Photographer of the Year, MPA UK Family Portrait Photographer of the Year and MPA UK Children’s Photographer of the Year.

Brendan is also the chosen photographer for the Leicester Tigers / Matt Hampson Foundation Fine Art calendar.

Jenny, Lucy and Lou complete the team, retouching and presenting images.

Great images are a collaboration between photographer and client. So it’s really worthwhile investing some time in advance of your photography session looking at what sorts of images you like and thinking about how they are styled.

Take a look at some of our albums to see what looks best on camera and follow these tips for what to wear…

- Jeans always look good whether the shot is in colour or black and white.
- A combination of black, white and grey looks great in both colour and black and white.
- Texture looks great on camera, for example the combination of a textured wool gilet over a cotton shirt would look great. Think faux fur, sheepskin, cableknit, tweed, leather, velvet and ruffles.
- Avoid wearing anything patterned, stripy or with large logos on it.
- Larger groups sometimes suffer from matching too well (for example an entire group wearing jeans and white shirts). So stick with the basic principles of a combination of black, white and grey, with some textured garments added into the mix and you won’t go wrong.
- If you’re at all concerned about your weight, then wear long sleeves and darker clothes, both of which will have a slimming effect.
- Arrange your entire choice of clothes in a pile on your bed and look at it from a distance. You will quickly see anything that needs changing.

An hour in the studio costs just £50.
