Bridport Art & Vintage Quarter, St Michaels, Bridport, West Dorset 3.22

The Art & Vintage Quarter is based in the St Michaels area of Bridport. This historical area of the town stretches back more than 200 years and was part of the pioneering West Dorset net and rope making industry, which provided equipment for Nelson’s fleet as well as family owned early fishing vessels along the South West coast.

The many events and the monthly Vintage Market held in the area add to the vibrancy of the town for both residents and visitors. It is remarkable that such a area of retail outlets, artist studios, creative artisan workshops, small manafacturing units, auction house and cafe is still overlooked by many of the vistor guides to West Dorset.

So it is hardly surprising that it is sometimes described as Bridport's best kept secret with its reputation for offering unusual and unique items has mostly been built by word of mouth.


There is little in the way of signage to the Art & Vintage area and as it is in St Michaels Trading Estate it can easily be overlooked. If you find yourself in the Ropemakers and Waitrose Car Park look for the Clocktower with no clock and thats where it starts. Whilst opening days and hours vary from business to business you will find places of interest there 7 days of the week.
